VERY late for the label's birthday (02/29!) here comes the second iteration of our annual All-Stars compilation series! Once more focusing on displaying a diverse and unexpected array of sounds and presentations, TAKENINAKE YEAR 2 tries to capture the spirit of the label, and showcase how unique internet music can be. Weirder and bolder: driven by the wild vocal and textural collages of ange_rover and low lov, side A branches from these gorgeously moody openings into the joyous and carefree soundscapes of Stacy Rougemonde and Vassily Mitrecey, shifting through Gnom Gegant's umpteenth iteration of alien bedroom pop. Side A ends with part 2/3 of "curiosity"; side B opens with Mr.Hideyoshi's mutant vaportech, happily slaps you with Enfance de merde's ecstatic "Swoches" then carries on with Ravagnac's signature house and Vince Dolphin's synthetic arrangements of a mermaid's complaints. The comp makes place for the final part of ange_rover's surprising live ambient piece and the beautifully odd "brooms" by low lov; looping back the whole experience. Once more mastered by the great Yan Hart-Lemonnier, TAKENINAKE YEAR 2 is also reflective of the struggles of running this label out of pure passion and with zero funds. But who cares?
